Magnetized Tanks
Awhile back I bought 100 small magnets for like ten bucks,
just for this kinda thing.
Each tank is like forty bucks,
but you have to chose which kind of tank you build.
So if I magnetize the options I can have both kinds of tanks.
And because each one has its own role on the battlefield,
I need both types.
The Predator for hunting troops and the Annihilator to hunt armor.
The three Predator tanks that got magnetized.
A Predator with autocannon and heavy bolter side sponsons.
A Predator Annihilator,
with a twin linked Lascannon and
lascannon side sponsons.
A close-up of the magnets on the side
It was so simple to do,
the side lascannons kept on breaking off, so I just cut the little arm off and replaced it with two magnets.
One for the side sponson and one for each weapon,
for a total of six for each tank.
The turret gun just slides in.
So for about twenty cents I saved $120.00.
GOT to LOVE it.

This time of year............
Been thinking 'bout this topic for a week or so..
And it seems that this is the best time of year for just 'bout everyone....
but me.
People ask..
"How ya doing?"
"Cold"
I reply.
"But it is such a beautiful day, the sky is clear n blue,
the pretty leaves, the reds, yellows and oranges....
the crisp air..
It's a great day."
I didn't say it was a horrible day,
a bad day,
an ugly day.
I said I was "Cold."
After the day time high drops below 68*.
I get cold.
I am kinda like a plant that way,
or may be a grizzly bear,
I want to start my hibernation cycle.
How can I explain?
Cold.
My blood sloows way down.
My finger and toes get stiff from lack of blood flow.
My core body temp drops.
Cold.
Sometimes my butt cheeks feel like that chuck roast that has been in the freezer for two weeks and now frost bite has set in.
Cold.
I work outside.
The most time people I know spend outside is going from their house to their car. Or car to the house.
I guess if I only spent 10 minuets a day total in the brisk, crisp, clear air of fall, I might like it better.
But as it is I am simply Cold.

The New Dreadnought
The New Termies Are Done.
Black Reach Squad
I finally finished the Black Reach Squad.
I don't know why it took so long to do, I guess the thought of going through the process of painting them...... stopped me. I got the process down pretty good, and I could whip through pretty quick, Start with all blue, then paint in the black on each one, then the foundation yellow for the gold trim, then foundation gray for the white on each one, then red red red red, gold gold gold gold, white white white, sliver silver silver, .......and on and on it goes.

Round Two ..... Ding Ding!
So today was round two for submitting my request for rezoning......
Bright an early I start my trek into the heart of utter confusion ( I wrote that cuz utter is a funny word) and found myself faced with a person who really does not like his job or is tired of dealing with people who have never tried to dive into a sea of red tape and make sense of it.
I waited for my turn after signing in and was glad to see that the number of people waiting was growing smaller quicker that the number behind me.
When I was called back I presented my pack of papers and asked to submit them.
After digging through them all and looking things up on GOV'T files he turned to me......
I have to pause here to say that I said nothing different than the last 3 times I was there, and did not have..... That look on my face, or..... That tone in my voice.
...... and he said that I did not write the right things in this space, and where are some photos to help your case, and you need a longer description for this answer, you know you are trying to persuade them, you need architect drawings for any future buildings that MAY be on the property, "IF" you get the rezoning approved, and it doesn't matter that yesterday was a holiday, I can't push this on to the docket, it's not complete.
So I left with my tail between my legs, thinking how bad I had botched things, and where could I come up with 3 grand by Feb.
I called my wife and she said that we could retype everything, and I called Victor and he said that the guy was just blowing smoke, and acting big and in charge, that's how you play the big government game, get what you need and go back today. We need to get it filed today.
I drove like a mad man home, got the retyped papers, grabbed the digital camera and the portable photo printer and dashed off to the quad. Snap snap, print print, and off to the dreaded cauldron of darkness.
Now it's after 1 and today they close at 3. This time I sign in and hope for the best, this time it was a lady, again no one I had seen before.
I guess the 4th time is the charm.
I was called back, and again I explained it all the same. ( I keep thinking that the truth first is always the best starting point,) This time she said everything looked good and asked what's with the photos? I just looked as blank and non committal as I could and shook my head and shrugged my shoulders. After she said that it looked good I just went with it, hoping for the best. The now very nice lady asked me to go and pay, then come back here. That was different, I was starting to feel hopeful. I went and paid, came back, and then the nice lady gave me a big sign to put in front of the quad and a number to call....... then said thank you....... I said "what?" ... She said just call that number and set a meeting and we are good here.
I don't know why I did not call that number today, I guess I just wanted to end the day on a happy note,..... I got my zoning sign.
I like this blogging thing, it's kinda like venting,I don't think I will be up so late tonight.

30 minutes..... You have got to be kidding me!
Today was one of those days........
the harder you try, the farther behind you get!
First I had to meet with my friend to get the notarized forms to take to the capital of Atlanta, and then I had to pick up the 18 copies of the survey that I should of had on friday, (who knew that spending $1200 bucks would be like pulling teeth?) so that I could apply for the rezoning......... which I was late for by 30 minutes.
To try to explain today is like trying to tell a deaf person about why you "NEED" an ipod!
Okay, let me start over, from the middle.
I got to the rezoning office, in downtown Atlanta, at 1:30 today, after I had spent way to much time at the surveyors office, and after I had met with my friend to get the notarized papers so he could be a landlord.
After all of this I was late by 30 minutes.... I tried to take it all in stride,.... I thought for sure that I would not have all the paper work in order anyway, ..... so I'll just have to come back tomorrow.
So when I was standing there at the front desk, stuttering, trying to ask for some one to help with an application for rezoning, THE guy who would or would not take it was standing there, and asked if he could help, and said that the office closed at 1:00.
I asked if he could look at my application and see if I had missed anything?. .... He looked it over and said " No, you got it all here,..... come back tomorrow and submit it then."
Happy with what I thought would be par for the course, ... I left the office and called home with an update........ I was then informed that tomorrow is a government holiday!
Just to let you know, tomorrow is the last day to submit an application for rezoning if, you do not want to wait another month for approval. Tomorrow is a day off for the government.
So I ran back in and asked the lady at the front desk if I could submit it today because tomorrow is a holiday, she went in to ask ............ and after a long wait........ THE guy came back out and said ... I quote..... "your screwed".!!!!!
The blood ran out of my face, it felt like it turned to ice.. I know my mouth fell open... and I think I heard a really weird sound... kind of like a frog being stomped on..( BRRaaahupe ).. and then THE guy smiled and said he was just kidding and that the dead line was pushed back a day because of the holiday.... and that I could do it on Wednesday with out a delay.
Just to let you know..... a one month delay is about $3000.00.
I was 30 minutes late and THE guy would not take it, even though I was standing there and had everything I needed.
(Smile..... and say" Thank you, I'll be back on Wednesday")
Well, I was still on par.
So leaving there I though, I'll just go across the way and apply for being landlord.........( you do know that you can't get there from here, even though you can see it is just right there...) 30 more minutes later.......I find a place to park.
And after showing all the forms to the very nice lady behind the desk, she asked " and,... where is the voided check so we can start? "
NOOOOoooooo......
It wasn't there?...... I know, I never got it. Even thought on Saturday, we went over everything, dotted all the the "i's" and crossed all the "t's", and put it in a folder, just waiting for a notary....... I did not get it at the morning pick up.
So I got in the truck and called my friend to find out where he was and then drove 90 miles an hour to the north side of Atlanta to get the voided check and then drove back at just 70 m.p.h. to downtown Atlanta. When I walked in to the office, the nice lady called me to to the front of the line and took all the forms and check and said that "you guy are in the system".
Batting 500 is not bad...... Right?

What's on the table?
This next week is going to be a doozy. I will be going down town to pick up the 18 copes of the survey for the rezoning stuff, file the rezoning stuff, pic up and submit the landlord application. That is just Monday.
So just as an update I thought I'd take some pics of what's on the table right now.
First up is the new Dreadnought,
Next are the filthy orks,
The eldar in all stages of being finished,
And the last of the Termies, with missile launcher and a heavy flamer.

It is'nt the end of the world as we know it!
Yesterday I had that R.E.M. song in my head all day...
But today the sky was clear and blue....
My wife and son went to the park today to do school....
And he got to ride his bike on the trails....
I went with them before work......
We watched some guy fly his homemade r/c plane.....
Today is no different than yesterday......
But today I decided to enjoy this day.....

Things that are on my table.
I'll start with an overview.
Over the weekend I built a paint pot holder for my paint pots... I got the idea from Chris's paint pot holder. And rearranged my work space so it would hold my new paint pot holder.
I finished the wave serpent for the dire avengers. Still working on the base.
Next I have a bunch of black reach space marines
A couple of filthy orkses
And some green eldar guardian to go with the green wave serpent, and some brightly painted harlequins.
I'm just poking along, a little here and a little there. I'm not in a mad rush to finish any one project to get onto the battlefield.

Life... and then some!!!!!
The 22nd I turned 46.......... I know I am OLD, Who would of thought I would get this old .... Chris said i should get a part time job in the museum, ..... as a display piece.
And my son turned 11 yesterday.
I have known my son longer than most of my friends.
All excepted for my best friend, my wife, who this October the 8th I will have known for 21 years.
Don't expect me to go on and on with a wise essay , All I have is a pithy quip,.....
" Go for the ride.... or get out and walk! "

CHANGE IS BAD!
We lost internet connection on sunday, and after two days of calls, being on hold, talking real slow to someone who did not speak english, we were told it was the modems fault, and that it would take 5 to 7 days to have a new one sent to us for free but with a $19.95 shipping charge......., so we made the switch to comcast.
At first you would think it would be easy to switch..... all you have to do is go to the comcast store and get you new cable internet modem, come home and hook it up.
Well let me tell you........... hooking it up to the wall and the computer was no sweat.
But to make it work, you first have to teach your computers how to connect to the internet, then you have to teach them to remember how to connect to the internet, then you have to teach them about your new e-mail and about how to find your new e-mail internet connection, and how to remember your new e-mail account and how to find your new e-mail account, then tell everyone you want to have e-mail from about your new internet connection and your new e-mail account, and then remind them that the old e-mail address is not working, then you have to tell your old e-mail address to send all of your e-mail that everyone has sent to your old e-mail address to your new e-mail address, then you have to go through all your accounts, every place that you use you e-mail address and teach them that you have a new e-mail address......and on and on it goes.
Change is bad. Or am I just getting old?

Boy oh Boy, What a Week! and a half.
My wife and son returned this week from the frozen state of Minnesota. They get to go there once a year to visit the family. They went to the Como Zoo,( where they saw an Orangoutang) and went to the state fair,
They say that there was no snow, but I guess you have had to have been there to say " that ain't so".
I spent the week with a cold flu bug that I just could not shake. Being Self-unemployed makes for a real long week.
By Labor Day I was well enough that I could go to The Steven's house for a cook out and a game of 40k, (They are the best host's you can think of..... besides us... ) we had a great time.
I do not have pic's of the game...... but I did beat Sir Daniel in a game of 40k, I took 9 of 17 kill points and he had 3 of 14 kill points, ( that is not boasting, after at least ten straight losses to the G.I. Joe's) and the dinner was great. We watched Firefly after that and they had to shoo me away after two shows. I worked on some Eldar, but not enough to take pics of.
Now the wife and son are home safe, the dog has stopped looking at me funny.( what did you do with the Momma and the Bubba ?) Life is back to "normal".
